<< Car Chaos Photo Shoots << Corvette Photos - July 28th
The 1981 Corvette Stingray came with an L81 350-cid v8 engine, featuring 190hp. This Corvette was not only beautiful but it had a lot of new features since it's last year of production. You could opt for a Turbo Hydramatic featured Corvette which had a new fiberglass mono-leaf spring that weighed only eight pounds (33 pounds lighter than the steel spring). Chevrolet even went as far as to create thinner windows and a stainless steel free flowing exhaust manifold which was 14 pounds lighter than previous cast iron version. To further optimize performance Corvette implemented a new Computer Command Control system as well as a torque converter lock-up clutch which operates in both 2nd and 3rd gears.
